Hi! I’m so delighted to meet you! My name is Becky O’Mara, and I’m a proud Malibu native. I would love to be your student’s tutor! Here’s a little secret about me: I hated school growing up. Elementary, middle, and high school? Not my thing. Preschool was fine, I liked the naps. But somewhere along the way in college, everything changed. I fell in love with learning, and even more so, with championing students as they navigate their academic journeys.
I recently completed my fifth year of teaching and earned my Master's of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University. Over those years, I taught all subjects in third, fourth, and fifth grade, and later worked as a middle school English teacher for grades six through eight. That experience gave me a strong foundation for understanding the different stages of learning and the unique challenges students encounter.
As a teacher, I love partnering with parents and teachers to help students achieve their goals. And as a kid who once threw away my homework and pretended it didn’t exist, no amount of missing assignments phases me. I am committed to being your student’s cheerleader and helping their confidence soar.
When I’m not working with students, you can usually find me at the beach, working on creative writing pieces, at hot yoga, or indulging my lifelong fascination with dinosaurs.

There are so many things to say about Ms. Becky. She is genuinely an amazing person, both as a teacher and as a friend. In fifth grade, I had a lot of teachers leaving and substitutes switching in and out, but later came Ms. Becky. When I met her, the first thing that came to my mind was, “Wow! What a sweet person." Her smile was so contagious that it made me smile too. Ms. Becky always carries a smile on her face and has a sweet voice that brings peace, comfort and confidence.
